Swine flu hits Romania trip pupils

Eight British schoolchildren have been taken to hospital in Romania with swine flu.
A British Embassy spokeswoman said the group arrived on June 25 as part of an annual exchange programme to work with disabled children in the north-east city of Iasi.
The pupils, aged 16 to 18, are part of a group of 19 and three teachers from the private Sevenoaks School in Kent.

The eight are in isolation at Iasi's Hospital for Infectious Diseases. British Ambassador Robin Barnett and other embassy officials travelled to Iasi this week to help with the case.
The spokeswoman said British diplomats were working with the school and Romanian public health authorities to decide whether to fly the students home or keep them in the hospital.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old has been confirmed as the first person in London to die after contracting swine flu.
The young man from south London, who suffered serious underlying health problems, tested positive for the virus following his death on Wednesday.
He is the fourth person with swine flu to die in the UK.
The latest death comes amid warnings that the number of cases could soar to 100,000 a day by the end of next month.

Once again more kids with swine flu,But who are they.No names of who they are.
Iv not heard of anyone yet with swine flu.
Its easy to write '300 people die of swine flu', but has anyone REALLY died of swine flu.
Its all a load of rubbish to me.

lordblake7, do you know what any of these "serious underlying health problems" are? I have tried to find out but that is as far as you get. No-one actually says what the underlying problem is, could it be that the "serious underlying health problems" are to do with the treatment from the NHS? :headscratch:

Iv been trying to find out about swine flu in as must detail as i can.Your right,you wont get very far,then its a brick wall. The harder i try to find out,the harder it is to beleave.

Swine flu is nothing different from a seasonal flu. Old people, young people and ill people are at a higher risk.

The reason for the media coverage is purely to create fear among the people. It may also be for the government to practice curfews etc. Just a thought.

It makes me wonder what is happening behind the scenes. While the papers are filled with swine flu nonesense what attrocities are our governments committing? Just a thought.

It's a pandemic that Randy Pan himself would be proud of.....

I am beginning to think that swine flu is just the standard flu with a different name so Donald Rumsfeld can line his pockets with our money. Flu...smoo....I haven't been sick with the flu for over 4yrs now because I take good care of myself. Of course the old, young and other people with problems are going to get it....basically the people who are not so strong or healthy to begin with..maybe one of those "pre-existing" conditions that they speak of is AIDS or HIV. That disease attacks one's immune system and as far as I know... one who has AIDS or HIV bad enough is suceptable to all kinds of stuff and the common cold could be fatal....BTW....D.S.'s "tamiflu" is not proven to be effective against the swine flu or even the standard flu....The UK just bought 14.6 million doses of it @ a dollar a pop...Take your vitamens, eat a balanced diet, get some exercise and stop eating at McD's 3 times a week. The strong and healthy will survive.... :cheers:
