I don't believe its fake... I think its some sort of towel or gauze or netting used for burn victims...

It's difficult to tell where the truth is coming from in this situation- at least it is for me. Maybe this is wrong, but to listening to him speak- at 2:54, I have a difficult time not believing Assad's body language, his logic, his reason, and his words.
