ok i was chillin watching tv and my ole lady was on fb and she showed me something concerning the mayan calender.
it said the mayans did not have a leap year and we do. the leap year was created in 45 bc.
So we have an extra day every 4 years that the Mayans did not incorporate in their long count calendar. This being said, todays date on the Mayan calendar would actually be August 5, 2013....a full 8 months AFTER the end date of Dec 21, 2012. Sorry guys, but math is math and numbers NEVER lie....maybe all you doomsdayers should think about this sensibly for once.

For anyone who would like to argue this, here is the math....tell me I'm wrong. I dare you

Leap year started in 45 BC. Current year is 2012
2012+45=2057
Leap year occurs every 4 years:
2057/4=514.25
So we are 514.25 days past OUR calculated date in corelation to the Mayans long count calender. So ad 514.25 days to today's date if you want to figure out today's date according to the Mayan calendar.
now am i wrong to believe this or am i finally gonna be right about something?
i don't speak dumbfu@k and i don't understand it either!

Yeah, I made a tread on this topic some months ago. I'm on the fence if the end date is so much the end or a new beginning. If we don't start WW3 I guess we'll see.
Now I'm nothing...

Agreed, Once 12-21-12 comes and goes "they" will adjust their math admit their "mistakes" and announce the New Corrected date some time in the future. This will allow for them to publish new books to explain why the made their errors and what it means for the future, Etc Etc etc BLAH BLAH BLAHBLAH BLAH BLAH blah blah blah

The Mayan calendar isn't based on a 365/366 day year- it is lunar and solar. The only reason we have an extra day in a leap year is because each solar year is about 365.25 days long... that extra day inserted every 4 years is to make sure the solar position on any given day in the year is the same as it was the year before and the year after. In other words, OUR leap year is OUR way of adjusting OUR calendar to match THEIRS.

Nice try though!
I can't speak about how much of the Constitution is in effect anymore... But thank God we still somewhat resemble a Republic and not a democracy!
