I read somewhere that they think there may be a wormhole at the Bermuda triangle. I can't remember where I read that but it explained the disappearances, the vortex, the electro-magnetic craziness, etc. It seemed to make sense to me.

No not if it all disappeared through a vortex. That's the whole point, they are not at the bottom of the sea they are in another dimension/universe.
