The Blue Star and The Rider-Waite Tarot Star Card
By Zarin

Pamela Coleman Smith designed the Rider-Waite Tarot deck in 1909. Somehow Pamela incorporated into these Tarot cards many symbols, images and connections to both the past and the future. Could Pamela have been aware of the Hopi prophecy concerning the Blue Star back in 1909? She was a member of the Order of the Golden Dawn. This group was interested in esoteric spiritual knowledge from cultures around the world. She may have known about the Hopi prophecy. But did she purposely incorporate this into her version of the Star Card? Or did some other more subtle spiritual force influence her?
Just what is the Hopi prophecy referring to? The Hopi believe that the appearance of a Blue Star will signal the end of our fourth world and announce the beginning of the fifth world.
About 2,000 years ago, around the time of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, A very bright star appeared in the heavens. In Christian mythology, this star was associated with heralding the birth of a messiah in Israel. But in the Western hemisphere, what may have been the exact same star, became associated with doom and disaster.
When a blue star appeared in the sky above the North American continent around 2000 years ago, this star may have signaled multiple earth changes initiated on that continent. Rain and wind currents were altered drastically. Rivers and lakes dried up. Drought, famine and massive shifts in population densities began to occur. Many established Native American civilizations disappeared and mass migrations of starving people were initiated. The desertification of the southwestern portion of the United States was rapidly underway.
The Hopi tribe of Arizona recorded, within their oral history, the appearance of this “Blue Star.” And also its' ill-favored consequences. The Hopi are considered to be the sole remaining remnants of the Anasazi Civilization, which fell into ruin, culminating at around 500CE (AD).The magnificent Mayan civilization, The Mississippi culture of Cahokia and the Anasazi all but disappeared within this same time frame.
Weather patterns shifted drastically all over North and Central America. Vast forested areas became severely dry and were set on fire by lightning. Gigantic firestorms ensued. Just as what happened during June of 2011 in areas of northern Arizona. Massive forest fires burned close to where the Hopi now live. The Hopi say they survived these disastrous times by emerging afterward from the safety of a cave into what they now refer to as the Fourth World. The Hopi maintain that the Third World was destroyed by fire.
Where could this Blue Star have originated?
The Greeks and Romans have a legend about the Pleiades Star Cluster, which is a part of the constellation Taurus. To the Greco-Romans, there were essentially 9 stars: a mother, a father and 7 visible sister stars within the Pleiades cluster. All with individual names. Today only six of these 7 sisters can be seen with the naked eye. Asterope is no longer visible to the eye. It is quite possible that Asterope is a flare star, which brightened over 2,000 years ago and has now been reduced in intensity to where it can only be seen with a telescope. All the stars in the Pleiades Cluster appear to be Blue Stars. The question is: could Asterope flare again or is another one of the sisters getting ready to brighten? Or even possibly mom or dad? The Pleiades system of stars seem to be moving through a dense gaseous cloud that gives all the stars their blue appearance. Flare stars can be provided with very explosive solar material from such gas clouds.
Now what has this all to do with the Tarot Star Card of Pamela Coleman Smith? Strangely, there are exactly seven small stars on it and one very large star in the center. Could these seven stars represent the 7 sisters of the Pleiades? Could the larger Star be a prediction of a massive stellar explosion around the 17th of February (the number on this High Arcana card is 17). Quite possibly in 2012? Or could this larger star represent our own sun being drastically affected by something occurring in the Pleiades, when the sun is in the water bearer (Aquarius). Aquarius is January 20 to February 19. The Pleiades are about 381 light years from us. The flare must have occurred over 380 years ago for this flare to reach us in 2012. If this flare is exceedingly strong, it could cause massive damage to our planet. Not to mention how it might affect the Sun.
There is a small red bird sitting upon a single tree on the only hill in this card. This red bird is pointing directly to one of these small stars. Will a Blue Star flare be seen on 17 February 2012 and thus affect our sun? Could this be the start of a cascade of unpredictable and disastrous consequences that will culminate on 12 21 2012? And how could Pamela Coleman Smith know this?
There is another possible interpretation.. There may be seven years of excessive water and strange weather beginning with the appearance of a Blue Star. Then mankind will receive new wisdom from the tree of knowledge, thus launching the Age of Aquarius (the water bearer). I leave which interpretation up to you. 17 February 2012 is only a little over 5 months away.
