i agree its offensive to me,not to others who worship the dead jewish man jesus,the cross can represent the four points on the compass,inside a circle it can represent a symbol of earth,i always believed that it was a stake not a cross that was used in the crucifixion,wood was scarce in lebanon c2000 years ago and there was a mistranslation from greek to english bible storos=stake not cross,this is not confirmed as far as i know,it has always bothered me why people of celtic white skinned race would choose to abandon theyre own history in favour of a story about a dead jew that the jews themselves dont even acknowledge,i feel there is something really wrong about that,we should be interested in our ancestors and mythology ,history,and not some other races,i think its a complete scam,however people are free to be misled if they so desire.

Vlad the Impaler was the stake user. He greased them up then lowered his victims on them. They were lowered to the point so there ass sat on it and over time there body wait would pull them down and slowly kill them till the stake popped out of there mouth or shoulders.
And all this while he sat down to feast!

Interesting post, comments, Mediasorc the Jews do acknowledge Jesus as the messiah and are known as Messianic Jews, whose number is increasing.

DlSlith concerning the weight of a body nailed to a cross, there was some evidence to indocate that a thick metal bar was hammered into the cross near to the persons groin which would not only be very painful but counteract gravity.

the thing is,i have my opinion,but who the fuck am i to tell anyone who to worship or what to believe,i always like to review my thoughts and find whatever flaws i can in the way i think and percieve and i often get reactive or get it wrong,but thats ok,its how you grow,no shame in being wrong sometimes i believe,it shits me when religious folk push theyre opinion and i bite sometimes,but im a christian man,not because i worship deities like jesus,but because i try to give love and respect ot my fellow humans and life in general,i really believe if jesus was alive today he would be telling christians to stop idolising him and focus on behaving like a christian toward your fellow man,not to get caught up in dogma,its all about actions not words,humility,its a hard one,but its the "way" for sure.hope youall can forgive me for my reactive attitude,time to bring folks together no matter what they want to worship,or not,im not an athiest,i believe in god ,just not religions,i love jesus,but cant stand christianity,as an organised club,the real christians dont give a fig about the bible,they are the ones who have love for all.and peace in the heart.

A lot of that is so nicely put :flop:

Know your limitations and actions are always stronger than words.

1Corinthians 1: 17-18
"For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

Like so many things in scripture, the cross, as part of God's plan to save the lost, only makes sense to those being changed by it.

Taken from the Ten commandments;
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

I find it very odd that most people don't considered the cross as a form of Idol worship, yet they bow down to pray to it in their churches.

In all my studies of the Bible, no where did I find Jesus or God asking for anyone to make a cross and wear it around your neck as a remider of your faith. Nor did I find anywhere instructions to construct a large cross so that I may pray to my God under it....

Just something to think about... Study and be the judge for yourself, I've not been to a modern church for a very long time... Yet I feel I am a religious man.

Thing about it is man, that was under the "Law", Jesus came to wipe away the law because NOBODY can stick to it. Nobody can be perfect. And that is what Jesus' mission was, to be the sacrificial lamb so that there would be a bridge to God. The difference is, it is a gift, all you have to do is admit you are not perfect and are a sinner, and ask Jesus to cover your sins. It's that easy.

I know I'll be blasted for this. But it's okay.
