A public instrument of death .
Jesus did not want to be crucified he sweated drops of blood as he said Gods will be done
You have to carry it to the site .
Your nailed to it.
When they drop it into the hole your sholders are dislocated.
You have to push up on the nail in your feet to get a beath of air.
Your naked .
You slowly painfully sufficate to death if you dont die of shock.
Birds pick at your eyes.
Your legs are broken if you dont die quickly enough.
I would think Jesus would be put off at someone wearing a cross on thier neck as im sure he never wants to see one again..
The word excrucating comes from the being nailed to a cross.
Christains wearing the instrument of death around thier neck what are they thinking ?
Ok let the flaming begin. Please let me know where im wrong.

The symbol of the cross has been around much longer than Christianity has been around.

Here is a basic clip from Wiki...

It is not known when the first cross image was made; after circles, crosses are one of the first symbols drawn by children of all cultures. There are many cross-shaped incisions in European cult caves, dating back to the earliest stages of human cultural development in the stone age. Like other symbols from this period, their use continued in the Celtic and Germanic cultures in Europe. For example, celtic coins minted many centuries before the Christian era may have an entire side showing this type of cross, sometimes with the cardinal points marked by concave depressions in the same style as in stone age carvings. Other coins may be showing the cross held by a rider on a horse and springing a fern leaf, sometimes identified as a Tree of Life symbol.

I will agree that I find it a bit morbid to wear a cross to symbolize the death of the man Jesus of Nazareth, if he was crucified, which I have no idea happened or not.

If I worshiped a deity I would not be feel right wearing the instrument of his/her death around my neck.

Thousands (perhaps hundreds of thousands) of people died on the cross.
Common and widely used execution method.

Tricky question Soloman, if youre sincere about finding the answer to that, read up on the meanings (all of them) of the cross, and see how the symbol of the quaternary applies and why it might be considered a sacred shape.

Look into that, or else you arent really serious about finding an answer to the question youre asking..you'd just be bible-baiting. Which i hope you arent...its a terrible way to learn stuff (if your ears are already closed, that is).

Christians believe Jesus died so that they could be washed of their sins and enter through the gates of Heaven. That without his sacrifice they could not achieve such thus his death upon that Cross is the most holy of sacrifices and thus why the cross is a holy symbol to them.

That is merely an explanation of their beliefs, not my own.

I know not if Jesus lived or how he lived. If he was just a portion of the man he is portrayed to be though that is certainly an example to try and live up to whether it be a real example or just an ideal.

We really do need to treat each other better.

I always thought the cross was a symbolic thing. I have read where the Romans actually crucified people on a stake with their hands nailed over their heads. Hands nailed on a cross would not be able to support the body's weight. Unless the wrists were tied of course. I could be wrong and probably should have read into it again before I posted. But what the hey

Actually the cross was a torture device, it made you suffocate. To breathe effectively you had to push on your legs lifting your diaphragm which would make you experience a lot of pain from the nails in your body. ~ look it up.

The romans like the cross because it made a statement to people not to mess with them. I mean you see a few people suffocating in pain from this publicly and it would be a huge deterrent from messing with them.
