" The Curse of Oak Island is a reality television series. The series premiered in the United States on the History Channel on January 5, 2014 and will premiere in Canada on History (Canada) on January 26, 2014. The show documents the efforts and financial outlays of two brothers from Michigan in their attempt to use modern technology to discover unknown treasure or historical artifacts, believed to perhaps be buried at Oak Island.

Oak Island is located on the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada

Plot

The Curse of Oak Island follows two brothers, Marty Lagina and Rick Lagina, originally from Kingsford, Michigan, through their effort to find the speculated - and as yet undiscovered - buried treasure, believed to have been concealed through extraordinary means on Oak Island.

The series delves into the long history of the small island, famous treasure hunting events and discoveries, and the sometimes fatal attempts to solve the mystery which has remained unsolved for hundreds of years.

Marty, a successful energy businessman, and his brother Rick, a lifelong student of the mystery, gained a controlling interest of Oak Island Tours, which reportedly owns most of the island. As seen on the show, Rick & Marty have engaged the assistance of father and son team Dan and Dave Blankenship, permanent residents of the island who have likewise been searching for the treasure since the 1960s "

I'm guessing he's an intern tasked with drumming up interest because nothing was found.

Even the coin discovery was pretty sketchy. It's found at the surface by a guy working off camera. Reminds me of the way objects move just off camera on Ghost Hunters.

These reality shows always end up being the furthest thing from reality. Use your logic...one cannot script reality. This show will come and g and be forgotten do to its lack of any real substance. Do you want to be entertained...or do you want to learn something new about something real? Clearly...these people want to make REAL money while they search for phantom money. Enjoy watching people make money off of giving you fluff!!

Their ultimate goal is to turn this island into a tourist attraction. They have already started the planning to do so, they are just waiting for that old man to kick the bucket.

Agreed but I still love a good mystery - Scooby and the gang would have it solved in no time, all they found was an Spanish pirate coin in the swamp which indicates there may have been Spanish on the island between 1500 and 1560 was hmmm pretty disappointing, but for old Dan the look on his face made it all worth while after 48 years of searching. Just have to wait till season 2 to Send in Scooby and the gang.. :help: never say never ..... :look:
