The First Solider in the Afghan War Atrocities Case is Given 9 Months

First Soldier Sentenced in War Atrocities Case

The first soldier, Staff Sergeant Robert Stevens, has been sentenced in the Calvin Gibbs alleged war atrocities case. He has been sentenced to 9 months. Though this sentencing can be considered light, it must be remembered that Robert Stevens was not charged with murder.

This sentencing should give the other soldiers the incentive to make plea bargains with the government.

The war atrocities involve killing innocent Afghan civilians and cutting their fingers off to keep as trophies in war.
