A friend of mine, Norval Cunningham has researched the Bible for many years, he has also acted as advisor for one of the US presidents regarding the Bible, over years and years of research he thinks he has found an answer to the 666 riddle!
Some of you might find his results rather shocking.

The fragment was part of a hoard of previously illegible manuscripts discovered in an ancient garbage dump outside the Egyptian city of Oxyrhynchus. Although the papyrus was first excavated in 1895, it was badly discoloured and damaged. Classics scholars at Oxford University were only recently able to read it using new advanced imaging techniques.
only 1 in thousands had 616 and like the link you gave it was in the GARBAGE DUMP
do you know every time they wrote 1 letter down they had to shower/bath and pray before they could write another letter ......

The mark of the beast (666) is actually the barcode. I found a link to a page that explains it way betetr than I could, but basically ALL barcodes begin with a 6 (what 6 represents in barcode) end with a 6 and have a 6 in the middle.

Intresting id heard all that before though, i dont realy think any ancient texts can/could tell the future though - its been shown 666 or even 616 can point to 100s of different things, its all open to interpretation.

I tend to be partial to the barcode thing myself,which is a tad scary that all the barcodes i have analysed start with the 6 lines,have it again the middle then at the end...WHY the 6 bars...WHY not any of the other numbers...Hmmmm...where did the barcode system come from all of a sudden,ill have to do more research in that myself...

the mark can either be a name, a mark or a number..preferences..thats the bait to hide the 666 hook. You see, people like choices. It makes them feel better. Anyway Bottom line: idolatry

I liked one version i saw that said it was the Pope - i think i just found the idea of the Pope as the anti-christ amusing.
Also there was another where it said it was Prince Charles - i liked this one too Charles has got the attitude for it (hes also a fan of eugenics same with William hes one too)
