New York City declines to prosecute Naomi Wolf for Occupy arrest

Naomi Wolf will not do hard time for walking on a sidewalk as part of an Occupy Wall Street demonstration last October. New York officials have announced they have declined to prosecute, and the case has been dismissed.

Wolf, a Guardian
contributor, was arrested in New York after a confrontation with police officers who had set up cordons to restrict the movement of Occupy protesters outside an event for the Huffington Post, to which she also contributes.

Wolf asserted the right of the protesters to use the sidewalk. A confrontation ensued. Wolf described it in a piece in the Guardian.

Here's a clip of the confrontation and arrest:

"[A police officer] gave me a look of pure hate," Wolf wrote. "'Are you going to back down?' he shouted. I stood, immobilised, for a moment. 'Are you getting out of my way?'"

When Wolf declined to leave the sidewalk, she was arrested, along with her companion.

"What did I take away?" Wolf wrote. "Just that, unfortunately, my partner and I became exhibit A in a process that I have been warning Americans about since 2007: first they come for the 'other' – the 'terrorist', the brown person, the Muslim, the outsider; then they come for you – while you are standing on a sidewalk in evening dress, obeying the law."

Full public inquiry...ok we'll go with that.

Those questioning the Occupy Wall Street protesters’ slogan that they represent the 99 percent may have just gotten more evidence to support their skepticism.

Turns out, three American Occupy Wall Street-supporting professors joined Iranian counterparts at Tehran University last month for an Occupy Wall Street conference. Quoting Iran’s Press TV – which refers those opposing the movement the “1 percent criminals” - the Middle East Media and Research Institute (MEMRI) this weekend released a report on the event (video below):

"…university professors and scholars from around the world discussed various aspects of [the] Occupy Wall Street Movement" and "talked about the nature of the people that take part in the Wall Street movement, what effects it has had up to now, and its future."

Democrats + Muslims + Communists + International bankers = NWO ?

Well... not sure what the FLOP is for...
happy they are filing lawsuit?
happy they have cost the U.S. Tax payers almost $50mil in damages?
happy that countless number of people were brutalized, stores broken into, and lives altered?

All in the name of "Wall Street"?

Well... as I said in this thread... awhile back... you will all get what you ask for...

Protesting in a *violent* way, whether the cause right or wrong, will invoke a negative reaction...

For every action...there is an equal an opposite reaction... works in physics...and in human nature in many cases...

So...
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/former-agent-new-bill-effectively-outlaws-protests-anywhere-secret-service-deems-off-limits/
Could protestors unknowingly run afoul of the Feds and face prison for exercising their First Amendment rights?

Yes, according to some analysts, and all that‘s needed is President Obama’s signature for a new law to give the Secret Service powers more befitting the Praetorian Guard.

Even former 15-year Secret Service veteran Dan Bongino has raised alarms, as he told the Blaze that House Resolution 347 creates an America in which ”you could accidentally be in a cordoned off secret service controlled area and find yourself in jail.”

“This was done to send a message to both sides,” Bongino said, “Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party” could be affected by this. “It’s a very serious issue.”

Ok... and for *anyone* of you asshat OWS supporters...

The Tea Party gatherings were
*NOT* any form of protest.
*NOT* aiming their sites on "a generalized" ficticious entity (aka "Wall Street")
*DID NOT* have *ONE* act of violence...
Cleaned up after themsevles better than any gathering to date...
Paid for their time/usage of public property...

And if you notice... the whole thing henges on "Obama's" signature... oh...and they just on the side...you know... lumped the Tea Party into the same category as the OWS... you know... because...Obama couldn't have the Tea Party gathering this close to elections.

So...
There you have it... just as predicted...and right around when I said it would happen.

But...you know...to those who *STILL* support the violence of the ows...the stupidity...the ignorance...and the complete disregard for the freedoms bestowed to them and blind to the fact that while some people in the U.S. might be considered not in the "top 1%"...over 80% of Americans...are in the top 5% income earners in the world...

So... cry a river... break some shit... rape a person...or do drugs...camp out until your trash and feces becomes a public heatlh hazard...and then when people try to get you to remove yourself from the location you never paid for (to stay) in the first place...become violent little monkies.

Play right into their hands... as you did... and now... if all goes as they have *blatantly* planned it...next time you find yourself in a public gathering/protest...you could find yourself in jail...for longer than you expect.

Yay...isn't this going to be fun!?

Complete...and total... morons...

CN Yes a flop for the lawsuit.
If you were a victim of police violence you would also sue.
That is the law.
We can not choose which to follow and which to ignore.
If the police have not broken any laws they will be found innocent.
However the violence we are talking about is from an institution against a lawful protest.
If they do not fight police violence, then you are no longer free men with a right to protest.

The other forms of violence you talk of are done by individuals not by the OWS as an organization and this also needs to go to court and those guilty should serve in prison.

Politics is corrupt. Ron Paul is evidence to this.
The political process is a joke.
If we do nothing and just sit at home waiting for the American administration to change laws for a more free society we will die of old age waiting.
As it stands regardless of the OWS, a clear picture is forming and our rights and liberty is under attack, right now today.

Ows is not pretty, it has rogue elements in it. I agree

The most important issue for OWS is to bring power back to the people.
If the administration changes the laws to stop protest it will prove that America is no longer the republic by the people for the people, it once was.

The reason why the founding fathers made it a legality to have arms, because they new a time would come when the republic would be in danger and they gave Americans the right to protect the constitution and their liberty's, with violence if necessary.

You *STILL* don't get it...
And you probably never will... to young I would guess...

OWS has done *NOTHING* but:
Create more confusion, due to no real direction (they *STILL* have no real solid message)
Be a financial burden...to the people who *actually pay taxes*
Cause more crime, violence...in the areas they gather.
Cause more health issues...due to their lack of cleanliness...camping for months = dirty.
Created more seperation between the *majority* of *working* Americans...and the radical liberals...
Now...made it so bad...that the government is *actually* making it possible to have federal agents (which federal=ability to call in national guard...remember the LA drills?????) arrest people...for an undetermined period of time.

Many of the "ring leaders" are "buddies" with Muslim radicals????

O.W.S., R.I.P.
By John J. Miller

Anthony Dent of The College Fix on the end of the occupation:

Based on the wave of recent reports detailing the declining interest in Occupy Wall Street, let’s just bite the bullet and publish the final obit: Occupy Wall Street, Dead, 213 Days Old.

At the University of North Carolina, The Daily Tar Heel recently observed, “Occupy Chapel Hill-Carrboro meeting attendees once packed a plaza, but these days they barely surround a coffee table.”

Other encampments around the country are in similar decline. While Occupy New Haven recently celebrated its six-month anniversary, the encampment is on its last legs. This despite a dose of legal life-support it received from a federal injunction overturning an earlier decision in which judges sided with the city in their efforts to evict the protesters.

A prominent member of Occupy New Haven has even joined city officials in calling for an end to the occupation. “The longer we stay [encamped] on the Green, the more damage we do to our cause,” he wrote in a statement.

This hasn’t stopped some occupiers from ignoring the doom right before their eyes as if they are the dinner guests in a sordid reproduction of the “Death” scene from Monty Python’s Meaning of Life—just look at last month’s re-occupation at UC-Davis.
