Interesting as it is, this doesnt explain why this relation is made, where it comes from logically.
I bet there was quite a lot of incriminating stories about the crusaders passed on amongst the Saracens. This is to be expected, in the contemporary conflict between the two formost adversaries in that period. And it certainly doesnt equate 'Mahomet' with baphomet, it accuses 'Mahometans' to indulge in venerating the baphomet.

Look up all you want, Samuel. The Qur'an is not a dictionary or an encyclopedia. Its a book, its a scripture. If you wanna call someone stupid, you should at least feign the realization any book cannot be comprehended correctly by reading little snippets here and there. Especially, especially scripture, like the Bible, Thora and Qur'an. But again, this rule of thumb covers all literature. If you do employ the 'dictionary method', and subsequently find yourself in a position to extremely insult the object you have merely consulted 'dictionary' style; my response is legitimate imo - and in thesame tone you have found wise to comment in.
