A report by the Office of the Inspector General of the Bureau of International Information Programs discovered that the U.S. State Department spent $630,000 to buy 'likes' on its page between 2011 and March of 2013. This is a move that Facebook discourages and even punishes users for. So is this money well spent when it comes to digital diplomacy?
I wonder how many really gave a thumbs up on the page, only the state dept know this, and they must be ashamed of the statistics.
