We've been manipulating animals and nature (and our environment) for centuries, thousands of years really, so on the whole we've never seen it as perfect.

Then the 'church' should stop preaching about the perfect creation of god. They should say that it's a playground given to us, so we can do with it whatever we like.

If we screw up. Well, then we just have to play with a desert.

Sand castles can look nice too.

we haven't had the capability to manipulate animals and nature for thousands of years, genetically, as far as i know, so no, we haven't been manipulating... maybe you mean breeding etc? still, it's not direct intervention in nature, more like a little suggestion/ guidance.

anyway, this is disgusting flip-flopping on the catholic churches part.
be all for "the kingdom of god" and "purity" and then say GM foods are fine, there's nothing to worry about, feed the poor, the next?

just another bunch of fakes, singing the old bullshit song "there ain't enough food to go 'round..."

This rides getting a bit bumpy lately, if you haven't tried, i suggest you look inside for a real glimpse of divinity & "the kingdom of god" ;)

The bumpier it gets, the more spectacular your memory of it will be.

Change can be good or bad. We've been genetically modifying things for ages. Radio signals stimulate genetic changes, as do different gaseous chemicals we produce. To make such a definitive statement as "All modified genetics is bad" is simply ignorance, and should be treated as such. However if you point out specific flaws, such as the use of GMO gives big government opportunity to control the people via food, that is at least useful in an argument. By uncovering these hidden consequences to our actions, we can devise plans to get what we want and still overcome our obstacles. Simply saying "It's bad to play God" without valid reason is as horrible of a thing to do as burning a library of untold information that could have lead to revolutionary advancement in the future.

You are right. Change doesn't have to be wrong.
But the thing being wrong with GMO is that we actually change everything to be all the same.
And that's wrong. Diversity is one of the key segments of life, of nature, of the universe.

That "purification" is what's most bad about it.

ok, i'll say this about gmo foods: they are not mutating in a uniform way, and their cross polinization of non gmo foods is unstoppable.

also, monsanto seeds which do not bear seeds for instance; just to make more dough, they genetically modify food so you can't grow your own but are dependent on them, this is the very Definition of Extortion.

And it's not about playing god or not, we are all playing god all the time and changing the world with every single action and thought, what it is about, is using undeveloped science on a massive scale to alter something as fundamental as our food.
if we mess up, what then?

ever thought of that?
