What do you believe in CornBread - it sounds like you don't believe in anything enough to stand behind, other than pacifism, which just ensures slavery. You should be happy there are people that will protect your right not to protect anything.

First, id say that I said "Islam is Evil" as a tongue in cheek statement...sort of.

second..id say Yes, Ive known muslims.
Ive nearly lost a sister to a muslim marriage (and this was to a Secular family--not even fanatics), and i managed to get a pretty damn accurate insiders account. Its a violently mysogynistic culture regardless of the apologists for it. (ill use the word culture, bc unlike many, I have read the Qu'ran, and what i DO know about the religion, is that the power is not granted by the written word, it is granted by the decree of the Ulima..and thier interpretations are not bound to, nor do they include what we read as the written versions of the Quran. These are considred inferior) So in that sense, the book and the religion are distinctly different. How women are referred to in the Book, and how they are treated inDaily life in every single Muslim country in the world turns that argument on its face. I am not required to apologize for the realization of this fact.. As how they are treated in real life is sanctioned by the Class of Ulema..and backed by local Imams. They ARE considred as One half the worth of men, and i know THIS from firsthand experience in a very Diverse environment.. Meaning i didnt read it in a book. The "Value and Discretion" arguments are simply covers for the beliefs that drive the actions..

Comparing it to Christianity is a cop out. Just like when I said that America isnt allowed to comment on the failures of other cultures becuse the world wont LET it make those criticism with the false justification, that since we have faults..ALL countries faults are to be seen as somehow less than Americas.

The same with the defence of Islam. A rebuttal that "well christianity contains evil elements" does NOT address failures, and contradictions, and inhumane failures within Islam..

Yes, there are moderates, by a HUGE far stretch..they are the exception (across the entire muslim world)..and I understand this deeply enough to not let the hostility that will come to me for stating the truth bother me one bit..NOR will it highlight my ignorance..because Im not ignorant.

I could even back off of the philosophical/dogmatic comparisons between the two religions to give a simple example. And use the following. Comparing entirely Muslim vs Christian nations..

Let a muslim walk freely throughout all Christian nations.
Let a Christian walk freely though Each of the muslim nations.
And the true nature of each system of belief would become Violently clear.
The Muslim would survive his walk.

And yes cornbread, somwhat, that IS what people say in defence of Islam.
Happens in every discussion...

I based all my arguments on the title of this thread and the first video, which I truly believe is misleading racist propaganda. I'd really like to know who put that little gem together...

Spock is an out-spoken Christian. That's the reason I compared the two religions.

Xenophobia is a dislike and/or fear of that which is unknown or are different from oneself. The term is typically used to describe a fear or dislike of foreigners or of people significantly different from oneself.

LOL, ya'll have got me in tears for real, and my stomach hurts...this is exactly what follows on the heels of religion! :wink:

Ya'll only touched on some 'core' issue about God and have burned page after page about stuff I can't even follow half the time. I mean yeesh, even the racist black Muslim gave an explanation about his beliefs, it turned my stomach but I read it out of respect.

How about we post a Top 10 World's Worse Problems list and then each of us go about offering solutions on how to improve those problems. If we disagree, we can post why we believe that, and address each belief in it's proper place. lol honestly, I think we all need to put a foot back on the ground and at the very least, acknowledge none of us here believe ALL members of ANY religion are evil in and of themselves.

Islam KILLS you, for converting to christianity.

LowSix - thank you for explaining the position so well, much better than I can do. (You Are My Father)

The thing is CornBread (and others), is that I not only like you but would welcome you into my ring of friends, regardless of your ideology. Even when we disagree on religion, I'm not demanding anyone ask the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, I would hope you would, but that is between you and God.

Now, try to form a relationship with a muslim and see how long it works.

I'm not jaded to the schism within Christianity. I married a Mormom and my son in law is a Jehovah's Witness. I love them both dearly, and since we have become family my wife has (all too willingly) left the religion of her youth which used fear and intimidation as a prod to keep people in line. My son in law also, has started having a good time celebrating people's birthdays, Christmas and Easter. In the beginning he would not come over on those days, he would elect to work, but we told him, we are celebrating life and love for either a person, or Jesus. He finally saw through his dogma and let loose.

Christmas and Easter are symbols of paganism mixed with Christianity, that's no big deal - we just happen to allow ourselves to celebrate Jesus' birthday on Christmas and His resurrection on Easter. Who cares if they are not the right dates. All we are doing is having a nice dinner and giving gifts to each other, watching our kids have a good time. It is a big deal - because I love the good time and having family together.

So there's my militancy. You won't see me and a bunch of Easter Egg hunting kids trying to fly planes into buildings and wanting to shoot jews.

Know who your friends are, and watch their back.
