They aren't all bad - Trooper Arrests Cop
What happens when a police officer is caught speeding? How about caught speeding in his patrol car? And how about when he’s caught by a state trooper? You’re about to find out.
A local Miami police officer was arrested earlier this month after he led a Florida State Trooper on a high speed chase that hit 120 MPH. The ordeal was caught on the trooper’s dash camera, and shows just how serious she took the incident: when she finally gets the patrol car to pull over, she approaches with her gun drawn while barking out signals:
The Florida Highway Patrol says the local officer is Fausto Lopez.
According to a police report, a trooper spotted a patrol car changing lanes in a dangerous manner earlier this month. The report says the patrol car ignored warnings to pull over and led a brief high-speed chase before stopping near Hollywood.
Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss told The Associated Press on Saturday that any administrative action against Lopez will be taken after the outcome of the criminal case.
Gawker explains what happened to Lopez after the arrest:
Lopez was later released with only a ticket for dangerous driving — a second-degree misdemeanor that requires a court hearing. But the video quickly went viral, and city officials have been quick to denounce Lopez’s actions. Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado told the Herald, “No one should drive 120 miles per hour,” and police chief Manuel Orosa assured that an internal affairs investigation in underway. And Commissioner Frank Carollo put it this way: “The police, like everyone, must respect the laws. What has happened is unacceptable.”
