Excellant 32 minute documentary, thanks for the posting :flop:

I wonder if the base has changed much? also was surprised with the matter of fact commentary of the nuclear power plant being installed, still this was 60 years ago now!

i enjoyed that, thanks.

here is the full story behind it.

http://gombessa.tripod.com/scienceleadstheway/id9.html

During the reactors operational life, a total of 47,078 gallons of radioactive liquid waste was discharged into the icecap. The PM-2A was removed in the summer of 1964 by the 46th Engineers based at Fort Polk, Louisiana. No military service was willing to accept the plant at another location so the PM-2A's components were put into storage

No return visits have since been staged but it is most likely that the tunnels have now collapsed and all that is left is snow and glacial ice, crunching and chewing on the remains of a most marvellous construction. Camp Century, its reactor long removed remains as a small and still furnished city, a ravaged memorial which stands testimony to the desire of humanity to explore the most hostile of environments.

Man are violent, Men destroy. Though through the smoke of confusion some of man are awake. Some are here to make a change. A change that will shake the very existence that we know. You will one day see peace.
