That was my take as well... someone who is a spokesperson due to his subject matter expertise does not often require notes to give simplistic answers.. the fact he was referring to his notes shows he is uncomfortable or indeed is unsure that he is following the 'notes' / script.

I have done quite a lot of public speaking, and I can assure you that note reading is does not instill much confidence in the audience, unless the topic is so complex and the questions so difficult that you need to refer, but in this context it was neither complex nor difficult, clearly following a script.

Are you able to ask questions on his blog?

Yes you can comment on anything he has written. And from what I can see he does seem to respond to questions. How he would deal with a question about those objects spotted by the ISS I'm not sure! I think he may just ignore the question. If the questions are asked indirectly or in a cloaked guarded manner you may be more successful. He's not stupid. And may not fall into any trap that could undermine his position, or threaten his livelihood. (He is a family man and has a grand child) I'm willing to bet that he would respond to softly softly catches monkey. He may want too of load his concerns about how NASA treats these annoying and obvious objects. It's clear as a glass of water what he was saying. Or should I say what he wasn't saying for those that could see through script. I would love to live in the US so I could bump into him at a local bar.

Off the record I would imagine he would off load, and you would learn many things that are not public knowledge. You can't work for NASA for 40 years, in the position he held and NOT know every thing there is to know. A clever question might get his interest. Like anybody. Press the right button and the door will open.

Fatdawg... I agree they are common, but not required where a subject matter 'expert', one of the few who are well versed in the topic, is answering basic questions. Yep, I too use media/ium to convey a message and keep it on track considering time constraints and the interest of the audience, but when I know the topic 'implicitly' I rarely if never refer to the notes unless there is something I need to show that is better explained by using a visual medium, especially not the way this guy does. I mean, where in the notes do you pre-empt answers to questions unless you forsee the need to give a particular type of answer to a complicated or delicate question...? None of the questions asked in this video appear at all complicated or delicate, rather he probably knew that he could go off topic easliy on this subject and so was sticking to a script... imo (but I must admit one thing, on this topic I love to believe in the conspiracy element and so I am biased in the way I see things... :alien51: I am hoping to continue my belief in the fact that Nasa are keeping secrets from us)

To me, this case looks more like a Q&A session given after an event rather than a presentation at a conference, and looking down at notes when you are asked simple questions does not look like you know the topic so well, unless the questions are very complicated, and even then, you should know how to dissect them and answer them in stages without notes.

So either this guy does not know the subject very well, or he is sticking to a particular line... imo

But I do see your point as it relates to presentations, I use much media as well, but for me it is mainly to stop my audience falling asleep at hearing my dolcite tones and ramblings,... lol as you know I can ramble.. look above for an example...

Salute mon ami....

This is what he said.

over the years we have Chased many, many, many of these things, maybe not with the viability that this one has gotten and really if ever been able to pinpoint exactly where they came from and always finding out that it didn't pose us any hazard

How many? Is many, many, many? How many years is over the years? really if ever means, We know where some of them come from. Always finding out that it didn't pose us any hazard. Why use [it] when you are talking about the plural (these things) How can you always find out that it didn't pose a hazard.. Why not they or them or those. Could it be, he is saying that this type of ufo are known to us and we have an understanding. I noticed he didn't use the word threat or danger. A hazard is something you know about and can avoid. And how do you chase them? With what? From what he said they chase them all the time. So the claim that NASA makes all the time, that what we are seeing are ice crystals reflecting the light is just so much bollocks.

Could it be that our Mr Hale is much smarter than we give him credit for. How do you introduce too the world that the lies we perpetuated over the many, many, years are coming to an end. This could just be the thin end of the wedge. We have to start somewhere so we can claim to have been honest with you. What he said has profound implications. Just think about it! He said so little. But it means so much. Now that's what I call clever.

You should post that take on his blog repeatedly until an answer is given.

Good question? I'll see what I can dig up. wonder if the news station has a unedited version in their archive's. If I find anything I'll post it.
