Just a theory,

We all know money talks. Well think of it like this, and this isn't taking into account how Toyota has helped nail the coffins of the American car industry.

Driving a Prius, I have been told, and you can all correct me on this, one uses an average of $30 worth of fuel every 2 weeks. Compare that to an equivalent non-hybrid car that uses, and I'm not being generous here, $50 worth of fuel every week. Now lets do the math :-

Over 6 million Prius cars recalled worldwide to date, with more to follow.

Difference in fuel consumption = $70 saving over 2 weeks, x 26 (year) = $1,820 per year, x 6 million = $10,920,000,000, almost 11 billion loss for gasoline industry every year.

Now fair enough that's world wide, but when it's in the billions, something has to be done. Like I said, just a theory.

I thought about this too. I think we are seeing industrial sabotage done by the auto industry and the oil goons.

These vehicles aren't being taken off the road, though...I would see your point if the cars had to be decommissioned.

Well last I heard they were not sure if their "fix" would solve the problem. So, a decommission may be on the horizon.

i thought the same thing.i told my boys that we have toyota to thank for having a dollar and an economy.i doubt nothing since we all know the ends justifies the means.

Yeah that does seem to be so.
Last I know their "fix" with the floor mat did not fix the problem.
Several people still expereinced the problem after having the so calll mat fixed and new pedals installed. Why is this? Well because there has to be something else wrong. Last I know something with the throttle positioning sensor? Well not the sensor but something around there. Ill try and find the link that I read that from, was on some major news site, although we know we can all trust them! :lol:

What I don't understand - with the problem, and I realize the situation can make people panic...

but why in the hell is there not a MASSIVE marketing campaign to tell people when their pedals stick to rip their transmission into neutral. Manual or automatic - better to have the engine rev like hell then to smash into something at 100 mph.

So anyone driving a Toyota..

If your gas pedal sticks

Put the car in neutral and apply brakes or coast to a stop.

It's so freaking easy.
