Agreed, since they were not able to enlighten us with footage from the other side, we only see the back. By the posture, looks like a young bear. Beaver possibly as well. Both sit somewhat hunched.
They see it wondering WTF. Are we supposed to believe that they never bothered to get a view of the other side? Or did that reveal a more common logical answer?

i think it looks like a ape of some sort .. it shows in the blowup a facial structure akin to a ape in my estimation but on the other hand the appendages look more bear like lol who knows .. but i wouldnt have been so far away ..i would have gone right up . christ what is wrong with those people .. lol get up in its face thats real filmwork ..haha

Its some kind of gorilla, I played with the lighting on a program and its face is pointed to the camera.
