National Investigative Correspondent, NBC News
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” -- even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.
The 16-page memo, (here) a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects abroad, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.

They have been authorizing these strikes for a while now, and now that it is in the spotlight that they have killed american citizens who were converting over to the side of the Jihadi's, they want to create a law to enact their protection in court??

They never had a problem with blowing up a whole city block in pursuit of one "terrorist" before, so why should we expect them to stop now??

These freaks are going to kill without ever stepping foot in battle, and they will continue to consider the resulting deaths of civilians a moot point towards the regulation against such actions.

The true decision should honestly be made to apprehend these criminals and try them in court for their associations, if they were actually guilty of something more than attending a mosque on friday.

Britain's deadly superdrone that picks its own targets

It is named after the Celtic god of thunder, can fly faster than the speed of sound and evades enemy radar with its single-wing stealth design.
UPDATED: 09:39, 28 January 2013

This is Taranis, Britain’s latest pilotless combat aircraft, which is even capable of selecting its own targets.

The revolutionary superdrone is due to make its maiden flight in the next few weeks and could spearhead the fight against terrorism in Africa.

Could be winging it's way to Africa in a week or so. :top:

The US government's internal guidelines for targeted killings of al-Qaeda suspects allow for such strikes against US citizens abroad, as long as they are believed to be senior leaders of the group and still engaged in operations, a leaked justice department memo shows.
The 16-page document, released by the US-based NBC news television service on Tuesday, provides a legal rationale behind the US administration's use of drone strikes against al-Qaeda suspects.
The memo says that it is lawful for the US to target al-Qaeda-linked US citizens if they pose an "imminent" threat of violent attack against other US citizens, and that delaying action against such people would create an unacceptably high risk.

We thought about it for a long time, "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union.

If there was a Republican in the White House, the media would be calling for impeachment.
