UFO in Southern Ca | December 21, 2009 | Real or...?

Hey guys, when I got back from shopping the other night, my sister and daughter saw this. Now, they did not film it, but it appears that someone else did and put the footage up on YouTube. I'm on the fence. At first, I was convinced it was the moon, but the light changes... They are absolutely convinced it was not the moon but a UFO. In fact, their enthusiam for how the object moved was rather infectious. So... You tell me...

What is it? Anyone have a clue?

Yes I believe that is called the moon. "Luna" in some circles.

Nice vid, and it's not the moon!

Hey Jet! You should watch with enlarged, frame by frame focus. You will find that it is not the moon, man. We're such a fast-paced society that we sometimes have a tendency to look and judge, too quickly. I do it too.

There are few reasons that lead me to believe this, but the most compelling reason- and I've never seen anything like this before- is that at 2:23- (I don't have a counter with a milli-second reading, so with-in 2:23, you may have to stop a few times until you catch it just right.) At this point, again, we see an obvious spherical shape. Here, it divides into 3 perfectly symmetrical, vertical pieces, and appears to separate. The left 1/3rd begins to move upward, the middle section stays put, and the right 1/3rd begins to shift down- like three pieces sliding apart. FREAKY!!!
I had to look at this numerous times, and I verified it again and again. You can see the division for a few seconds longer- before and after the 2:23 reading- but the separation- as described- occurs only with-in the 2:23 reading- as stated.

This begs the obvious question: "WTF???"

And, fyi- not on any "happy-happy" drugs or anything. Stone cold sober. Check it out guys, and let me know what you think.

I am not convinced it was the moon. They are still talking about it today, and they swear upside down and backwards that the moon was in another part of the sky....

They also stated that the object we see in the video was in another portion of the sky at first, vanished and re-appeared in another portion of the sky, and that is where this clip begins...

I missed it! I arrived at the house 10 minutes after... Damn!!!

Yeh, good obs Hawk and nice post Claw.

Could a cloudy moon possibly give this view, or the effects of pollution low down in the sky? highly unlikely, I have never seen the phase of the moon like this, another thing to consider is relative size and low down to the horizon this object if the moon is too small and as you know the moon looks larger the closer you view it to the horizon. :look:
