UFO Mystery in the United States, Mysterious Metal Boxes Allegedly Appearing Along West Coast After UFO Sightings

A senior named Doris, living out her retirement near Stonefield Beach, Oregon [map] has become disquieted by a metal box that has washed ashore near her home. Her dog had made the find, and was barking and carrying on.

“I know crazy things happen over at Stonefield,” Doris stated, “but when you walk down and see that metal box sort of glowing in the surf it gets your attention real quick.”

Dave Masko is reporting this story at Huliq. Metal boxes are apparently washing ashore along the Oregon coast. Because Stonefield Beach is also “a popular Oregon coastal beach lookout for UFOs,” it is being suggested that one might have something to do with the other.

The story came out the other day, and is only being reported at Huliq.com right now. There doesn’t seem to be any other confirmation from any proper news site. So until there’s some reliable confirmation, I’m not going to place too much stock in this story.

I decided to browse some discussion channels and found a few very good possible explanations. “Abby Normal” pointed out at Lunatic Outpost that the writer of the article at Huliq is also a writer for The Examiner.

Perhaps she is suggesting the author might be prone to just making sensational shit up. But here’s my own musing: Might it be possible that the writer is hoping to seed a story that he can later use as material for an Examiner article?

“Anonymous Coward” at Godlike Productions theorizes that it might be Japanese tsunami debris washing up on U.S. West Coast. He points to an article about how, 9 months after the disaster, debris is washing up on U.S. shores. (And there’s 100 million more tons on its way.)

That theory makes sense to me. It could be debris washing ashore and the UFO sightings are purely incidental. After all, there are always UFO sightings. Every night. In every state. So suggesting that the appearance of boxes and the UFO sightings are related might be presumptuous. Correlation doesn’t equal causation.

There’s another possible explanation that I’ve seen at a few different discussion forums:
