The crust isn't even COMPLETELY solid. We gots fault lines, and each edge of the major lines grow a minimum of an inch a year, Indias at now 1.9 I think. So that would mean each plate on its own is its own solid piece right to almost the core (where at least the ground solidifies.)

I don't know if anyone has actually looked at the photos in the OP, but they look like somebody's colon or rectal area during an anal exam!
