It is the actions of man, and our current technologies that enable those in power to exacerbate natural events. In other words if it can happen, we now weild the power to make it happen.

Well, in the case of the recent disaster, and previous quakes in that part of the world, the cause isn't so exotic.

Tectonic plates and pressure are not a good mix.

Plate Tectonics is an ever disappearing theory. Here's a clue, the Earth is alive, it grows and responds to stimuli, sometimes that stimuli is galactic in nature.

Err yes, it is alive hence the movement of plates and random aberrations induced by moon and sun activity.

What exactly is novel about that?

Why spend hours prophesising something that has happened for billions of years and will probably happen for billions more?

Cyclic culmination is a theory. The guy who wrote it says so himself. And while I agree with such cycles, I for the life of me fail to see why all this has so much doom attached to it.
