This sound was repeatedly recorded during summer, 1997 on the Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array. The sound rises rapidly in frequency over about one minute and was of sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors, at a range of over 5,000 km. It yields a general location near 50oS; 100oW. The origin of the sound is unknown.

What created this strange sound in Earth's Pacific Ocean? Pictured above is a visual representation of a loud and unusual sound, dubbed a Bloop, captured by deep sea microphones in 1997. In the above graph, time is shown on the horizontal axis, deep pitch is shown on the vertical axis, and brightness designates loudness. Although Bloops are some of the loudest sounds of any type ever recorded in Earth's oceans, their origin remains unknown. The Bloop sound was placed as occurring several times off the southern coast of South America and was audible 5,000 kilometers away. Although the sound has similarities to those vocalized by living organisms, not even a blue whale is large enough to croon this loud. The sounds point to the intriguing hypothesis that even larger life forms lurk in the unexplored darkness of Earth's deep oceans. A less imagination-inspiring possibility, however, is that the sounds resulted from some sort of iceberg calving. No further Bloops have been heard since 1997, although other loud and unexplained sounds have been recorded.

Science yes but , like we know now science is not that science right. Look at the point of the universe now they start to reveal new powers that they never knew that they excised because they were to LAME to got of there thrown and look at some subjects on difference sides .... They may know a lot but they doesn't always bring it to the open ... I think our science is right for about 15% the other 85% you will find or they will find when they start to get them head out of them asses. By the way do you still believe in the nobelprice? Do you still believe in the global warming ? cause it are all drunken no good stupid money loving pigs of scientists that control the world and only in the big corporations interest. Not us we are with to manny they will clean us up with there "good" science. :hell:

How do whales communicate in the water? They make noises and sounds.

Now there are alot of species even we don't know about that live in the ocean. I wouldn't be surprised that sound came from one of those species.

It's alot to consider.

Use your heads....

The "Bloop" has been a topic of great intrigue for me during the last few years though to my disappointment nothing new regarding the issue has emerged (over those 14 years since the "discovery" of this extraordinary sound).

I can't understand why a few posters find it fit to mock such an interesting subject on a forum that's all about such subjects and more.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop

According to the NOAA description, it "rises rapidly in frequency over about one minute and was of sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors, at a range of over 5,000 km." The NOAA's Dr. Christopher Fox does not believe its origin is man-made, such as a submarine or bomb, or familiar geological events such as volcanoes or earthquakes. While the audio profile of the bloop does resemble that of a living creature, the source is a mystery both because it is different from known sounds and because it was several times louder than the loudest known animal, the blue whale.[2] Five other significant unexplained sounds have been named by NOAA: Julia, Train, Slow Down, Whistle and Upsweep.
"The edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over." (Hunter S. Thompson)
