It’s a scientific prediction that will get dollar signs pinging in Steven Spielberg’s eyes: We could make contact with aliens in less than 100 years.

But according to one of our leading physicists, it is a matter for governments – rather than Hollywood – who should start preparing for our first extra-terrestrial encounter now.

Speaking at the Euroscience Open Forum conference in Dublin, Jocelyn Bell Burnell said: ‘I do suspect we are going to get signs of life elsewhere, maybe even intelligent life, within the next century.

How well prepared are we? Have we thought of how we approach them? Should we put them in a zoo, eat them, send in GIs to bring them democracy?’

I think it has happened already, and i bet this isn't the only time in mankind's history if ancient records are to be believed. Its just a question of money really, one country getting one up on another with technology etc with the guise of national security.
Night vision technology has its origins back in 1947 with Roswell so i would guess stealth technology is another bi-product of our intimacy with our advanced cosmic friends, all is enough to ensure that no country will disclose anytime soon, India was on the verge of disclosure, but was beaten back with threats.

I agree with monica44, it's probably already happened.

I have always believed this little item was the reason that world governments kept the 'visitors' secret (such as Roswell) - and it was just a radio show.
