Why do humans love music and dance?

We have been expressing ourselves through the medium of dance and music since the beginnings of humanity.

The Ancient Egyptians practised it at the dawn of civilisation.

American natives indulged in it.

We still do now.

Even on DTV two big threads are about music, and a couple of members posted their versions of dance! :flop:

Why has music and dance become part of the 'human condition'? Why is it so necessary to mankind?
Do we dance for fun, for courtship (part of the mating ritual?) to worship spirits or Gods, to draw us into the frequency of nature/existance?

Do our bodies crave the sound, the movement, the frequencies that are created or maybe re-joined?

Coupled with some drugs or alcohol (I believe alcohol was created to assist in the dance) In these days are we celebrating a return to the frequency of mother earth and re-joining what our ancestors knew? Even only for a few hours, are we truely alive before we return to the 'death of our modern lives', encased in suits, dresses, living boxes and little real social contact with nature and other humans?

I think, in our modern world, (and its just my opinion) music and dance is vital for us ( the real 'dead') to reconnect with our real selves and the real world of nature.

Welcome to the kingdom of the dancing dead!

I think that dancing to music, is to try and get on the right frequency to the vibe of mother earth like you said.
You can feel a tune or two when you go for a lone walk, well I can and it's always different.

Some people cant get it right, mostly Dads out of touch.

Yep, I can remember camping when I was a teenager and the best part was singing (and drinking  )
around the fire, then throwing ourselves about (I wouldn't call it dancing!) to music from a couple of guys who could play.

Definate re-connection (imo). Sort of just felt a 'release', if you know what I mean.

http://www.tokenrock.com/harmonic_nature/natures_divine_frequency.php

In my opinion after years of research into the properties of DNA, music is embedded within the data of DNA to be musically creative and artistic. Every living organism is born an artist with an ear, eye and heart to harmonise with the planets resonance/environment.

Found this interesting little site, loved the idea of "Every living organism is born an artist with an ear, eye and heart to harmonise" - or to become part of the orchestra of life, and maybe even write some of the music! :flop:

no dancing in sharia land, youd get stoned and not the herbal way.
the story of life is quicker than the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello and goodbye, until we meet again my friend.

As i see it humans dancing can be either a tool for social interaction in the most obvious sense to seduce/impress or express creativity, much like birds do also. Or a tool for (spiritual) mindfullnes, to get out of the head and in touch with the body and in tune with our senses reckognizing or maybe remember the sounds of creation. After all we are all made of sound/frequency. To tune in with music is to tune in with reality itself. Moving the body with that is the perfect tool to turn of the noise created by your thoughts, which can be a veil that obstruct us of the beauty of reality.... :)
