Yes! There is a documentary on cable/dish about this... There is supposedly more water UNDER the Sahara desert than in the Great Lakes. It was very interesting... Not only did the entire 1/4 of Africa use to be under the ocean, but once that portion of the African plate rose up out of the water it was a jungle.. then a desert.. then a jungle... over and over due to climate changes caused by the earth's wobble.

I definitely will look it up and try to find the name of the program.
