I'm very frugal that way too. It's not so much the quality of the meat (well that's important for sure), but how you cook it. You can make shit meat turn into a delicacy......if you do it right

You gotta eat! If you ate 1 egg, that's only about 50 calories.

You need about 2500 a day to function normally. And that's being active.
