What happens if you make a copy of a copy of a copy (and so on) of a VHS tape? This experiment shows how the quality degrades with every generation.

The copying was done using two PAL VCRs in SP mode.

Well...... that explains at least one thing, in what number of generation were my porno tapes I was given.. :badair:

Almost like the scrambled signals on the dish back at that time.. there at least you DID get to see a boobie once in a while..

But to be accurate.. if you have a "master" and 2 blanks and ping-ponging those it back and forth instead of having 20 virgin blanks that each tape is that generation to the next.. the tapes thenselves would degrade much faster then version/tape #1 then to version/tape #2 etc... see your only recoding it once on a virgin tape even tho its a 15th generation signal.. I havent gone to yourtube to read if it is nor just 2 tapes. And were the tape heads cleaned before the next version.?

Might not make a total difference to it, but as we all know VHS tapes were sold by the millions and theres a reason as to why.. VHS or BETA.. makes no difference they all go bad. Thats why you hardly EVER see factory VHS movies anywhere, there trashed.. if you lucky to get a real decent copy, rip it your computer ASAP.
