Generally speaking we have a big variety and modifications of Friedemann Schulz von Thun's four ear model of information (see each-information-has-four-ears-t32865.html).

Let me give you some backrounds of why a discussion may take place:

1. Just for delivering a matter.

2. To show how intelligent someone is.

3. To humble somebody.

4. To show someone's pain proof.

5. To hear oneself speeking.

6. To show someone power.

7. To play with somebody.

8. To play a role.

9. To love somebody.

10. To attract somebody.

11. To follow compulsions.

12. To serve vanity.

Etc. etc. pp. You may continue...

Check this out Tertius...

What if it's not a nefarious as all those, and it's simply to state ones opinion?

It might be once in a while, but generally I would not focus on the nefarious case to much...

I simply wanted to show the manyfold of reasons someone is going into a discussion. I wanted to transcend the phrase "state ones opinion".

Sure, but I expect as most people are. I just don't think people can be broken down into those categories in general. We all display those categories at some time or another, but, it is just to get a point across - as people do. It's natural.

Sometimes it is correct to clinically analyze, and others, it correct to just be.

People are complicated. And social by nature, even the most agoraphobic of us. Personally, I join in discussions because I honestly want to have dialogue with other people who are interested in the same kinds of things I'm interested in. Or because sometimes it's funny to screw with folks. And mostly I'm on this board during the daytime because I'm a working artist and I'm at home every day, and I'm waiting on shit to dry and I have to occupy myself or I'll get impatient and start messing with it and fuck it up.
Remember, in a real conspiracy, all players are pawns regardless of their rank.

Are you an extension of me?

I feel the same way - and I am a working artist as well (but I suck, pays the bills though). :flop:
