What is it getting hacked

I ask, because I know nothing about it, this is exceeding my understanding.

Two weeks ago my computer got also crazy. It turned on and off all by itself. So I called an expert. He loaded up some new stuff. Actually I lost all I had in the memory, including a finished manuscript of a book I want to publish. Fortunately, I saved a copy of the manuscript.

So how do I see I got hacked?

Try disabling the "wake on LAN" option in your BIOS. (F1 or DEL key at boot-up)
