what is this Mystery Animal...

We were in northern michigan, taking a walk and noticed a bizarre critter in a tree. We couldn't figure out what it was and nobody that has seen this video can figure it out either. Any help would be great!

I am not really sure but It could be some sort of Ground Sqirrel.
Could it be a Nutria?
They are abundant in Louisiana and South Texas.
I don't know if they can live up North.
I do know they are "Water" animals, and live around lakes and streams.
From Chacha.com:
Nutria are large rodents that look like beavers with long, thin tails. Nutria may weight up to 20 lbs and reach about 24 inches from tip of nose to tip of tail.

Well shit, we have those here, and i never even thought of that.
They CAN climb, although theyre a bit fat (hm...just like that one)
But one thing that goes against that theory is that the ones ive seen, even young ones, have a pretty prominent Mustache of white whiskers..And the body of a Nutri is generally tabered like a rat, instead of sausage like...
Ears and head are very similar though.
The missing tail could be chalked up to an accident or something.
Shit I dunno...
Pretty decent thought, but i lean against it i think.
Looks like one of them everyday kinda ten pound squirrels without a tail..lol
NUTRIA:

Hmmmm
How much wood would a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood

Go, little Woodchuck. You find that someone who can chuck wood for you. You make those dreams come true

The earth is what we all have in common ~ Wendell Berry
Looks like a very mature flying squirrel. They are fatter in the body as there are skin flaps which create the wing. They stretch out with hands and feet like doing a belly flop and these wings allow them to go from tree to tree. Normally they'll climb high then jump and glide over to a close by tree.
