Ontario, Canada - 06-16-09

(Editor's Note: I have looked closely at the object in the photograph below - see enlargement and enhancement at left.

I do not know what the object is, but perhaps one of you may. If you think you know what it is, please let me know.)

Submitter Details:

The photographs were taken by my 40 year old niece at 7:30 AM, on June 16, 2009, on a semi-wilderness lake in Ontario, Canada, where my family owns a small island.

She was standing on the island and shooting toward the mainland. The camera used was a Cannon PowerShot, set on Auto. The lake was deserted, and she was alone at the time and took the photo because the lake was so still with a slight mist rising.

Please let me know what you make of this as we're all pretty stumped.

Rods are not a real phenomena - that however is a rod - like a cane rod or stick maybe even plastic - but it looks like a toy sword being slung into the lake and photographed.

Nothing unusual.
