I agree with the photo glitch theory. But for you forestgrove, here ya go.
If its possible to find out the date of when the satellite took that image, try looking up any information about the weather in that area during that time. look for any large storms, especially extremely windy conditions. Maybe its cover layer of snow was blown off and the satellite just so happened to snap a picture of it at the right time.
