Basically the News of the World(NotW) is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Sky. Tommy Sheridan was the leader of the Scottish Socialist Party and many of his comrades lied about him and sided with the fascist media in this country. It was claimed that he had partaken in drug-fuelled orgies with prostitutes and also took part in wife swapping. This was all proven to be a lie and in court and the NotW were ordered to pay Mr Sheridan £200,000 damages. They have not yet paid. Many of Mr Sheridan's party members saw he chance to climb the political ladder and lied about things they had seen or heard and the result being that people now doubt their integrity. My own opinion is that i couldn't care less about a man's private life. All i care about is his/ her political values and integrity. I suppose the NotW take the view that if you throw enough mud then some of it will stick. Mr Sheridan has now started a new party called 'Solidarity' and he appears to be doing well. Albeit brief this is the jist of the matter. I urge you to 'You Tube' Tommy Sheridan in order to get a grasp of the character of the man. You won't be disappointed. I don't think i've ever heard a speach delivered with quite so much intensity.
