you'd think that nobody in congress is aware these graphs even exist.
hell, show these to a 5 year old and they'll tell you you're doing it wrong.

Absolutely, I know a couple of 5 year olds and I can tell you these little fellows are very smart,

Yes, military hardware, (value added products), are some of the few things USA manufactures any longer. Military production backs the greenback.
Also the defense industry has spread itself into every congressional district in the USA, in some districts, these jobs are the ONLY good paying jobs, guaranteeing congressional support for defense spending.
