Why 'Palin Derangement Syndrome' Won't Fade Away!

C. Edmund Wright, at American Thinker, has an interesting article today about the mental illness which has afflicted liberals and establishment Republicans: Palin Derangement Syndrome, or PDS as it's referred to in the relevant academic literature. PDS, of course, is a relatively new psychosis having first been observed approximately 15 months ago.

Those most susceptible to this virulent strain of mental illness are self-anointed elite liberals who, curiously, have a notable dearth of accomplishments in life. Examples include Keith Olbermann, Chris Mathews, and the ratings challenged Katie Couric, to name a few. But, as we've noted here before, PDS is by no means limited to self-described liberals. Liberals who call themselves conservatives, such as David Brooks and David Frum, also suffer from advanced cases. Even a few legitimate, though elitist, conservatives have occasional PDS seizures.

Im a conservative, but by no means am i deluded enough to think Palin has any answers to anything.

But that said, articles like that, are just as intellect-light as she is,
and highlights the ignorance of the talking head right...
and frankly degrades the tone of the entire debate...and makes it that much harder to defend my stance as a conservative. What is passing for conservatism these days is absolutely pseudo conservatism, and hasnt held any answers, good ones, for a lonnnnng time.

Basically name calling at that level (adult/national) is so distasteful, i cant blame people for being disgusted with it all. There are problems with both sides, although personally i find more weaknesses in the formal liberal positions ..as pertains to fiscal and foreign policy..socially, i am actually a liberal.

To me, Liberal is NOT an insult as is so freqently implied lately..

But crap like this doesnt address it, or the issues, or the differences,
or most importantly any answers. So it's useless, petty diatribe.

Until and unless the right gets its shit together and unless the moderates stand up, get some balls, articulates some reasonable positions and tell the FAR right where to go, we are going to run in circles.

Just as Obama represented an ideal (regardless if he was capable of executing it or keeping his word) Palin represents a wishful ideal that she herself cant even properly articulate in long form..therefore, its all surface fluff that doesnt mean a fucking thing.

I soncerely hope that even those that are tossing her name around lightly, dont think for an instance that she is what this country needs. She would be a disaster. Shes a hollow ideologue. Now that doesnt mean shes a bad person, or a political failure..but she certainly doesnt represent the Heft needed to address the complex future we are facing...I dont even think shes stupid per se, but, theres something to be said for a high end, high dollar education, familiarity with history, familiarity with successes and failings of the recent Right, and a thoughtful sincere counter to the failings of the left either.
