Putting God to the test.

Since the time of Darwin, science has gradually chipped away at the belief in God’s existence. The laws of biology, chemistry, physics and astronomy supposedly account for the supernatural miracles that have perplexed believers and non-believers alike for millennia.

Now, a growing body of theoretical scientists say that science will soon arrive at a complete understanding of the universe that leaves no room for God whatsoever.

Will science soon finally rule out the possibility of God?

“As we learn more about the universe, there’s less and less need to look outside it for help,” says Sean Carrol, a theoretical cosmologist at the California Institute of Technology who studies the origin of the universe. According to Carrol, as science has increased its understanding of the universe, the need for God to explain the existence of matter and life is approaching zero.

For example, the Big Bang theory is the idea that all matter originated from one infinitely small, infinitely dense and hot singularity that billions of years ago began expanding outward, eventually creating the universe we know today. It is the most widely accepted scientific explanation of the origin of the universe. However, this explanation does not attempt to explain where the singularity came from in the first place, or what caused it to first begin expanding. Many theologians are quick to point this out and credit it to God’s creation of the universe as described in the Bible.

But according to Carrol, science is finally overcoming this criticism too. Scientists can model what happened from 10 to the negative 43 seconds after the Big Bang till now, he says, but even that tiny fraction of a second that remains unexplained may soon have an explanation. For example, quantum gravity theory says that instead of the Big Bang being the starting point of time, it was just “a transitional stage in an eternal universe.” This theory says that the universe acts like a pulsating balloon that inflates and deflates over and over again infinitely. There was no beginning and is no end—and thus there is no need for God, he says.

Other quantum gravity theorists disagree with the inflating/deflating universe and argue that the original Big Bang theory is still correct, but that no God was required to jump-start it. Alex Filippenko, for example, is an astrophysicist at the University of California–Berkeley. Earlier this year, at a conference, he said that “the Big Bang could’ve occurred as a result of just the laws of physics being there. With the laws of physics, you can get universes.”
http://www.space.com/16281-big-bang-god ... ience.html

So instead of believing in a universe that began expanding out of an infinitely small, dense and hot singularity all by itself, Filippenko believes in the creation of a universe due to universal laws of physics, chemistry and biology that spontaneously appeared all by themselves.

But where did said laws come from? How do you have laws without a lawgiver?

To get around this criticism, some scientists point to multiverse, string theory. In this theory, there are an infinite number of unobservable parallel universes in different dimensions. Because there are infinite numbers of universes, there are infinite numbers of combinations of laws of physics and chemistry, and thus eventually one universe would by chance have the perfect conditions for life that we find in our universe, on our planet. We just happen to be living in the lucky universe!

Once this theory is proven correct, “a multiverse happens, whether you like it or not,” notes Carrol. And then poof, there goes the need for God’s hand in starting the Big Bang.

The arrogance of so much of the scientific community never ceases to amaze. Scientists ridicule the belief in a God the Bible describes as having no end and no beginning, yet ask you to believe in a spontaneously generating, pulsating universe with no end and no beginning. The “educated” of this world laugh at people who believe that a God they cannot see or feel created the world around them. Yet famous, highly educated university theorists ask people to instead believe in a world only made possible by the existence of an infinite number of unobservable multidimensional parallel string universes. God skeptics criticize the belief in an eternal God without maker, but ask people to believe in laws of physics, chemistry and biology that also supposedly eternally existed by themselves without the aid of a lawgiver.

It is as if the world’s educated and wise have become fools.

No matter how hard arrogant people try, they will never disprove the existence of God by proposing alternate “scientific” theories of creation—and not just because the theories are wrong. It is because these complex theories inevitably ask people to believe in something that is both untestable and unmeasurable—the two very things that scientists accuse God of being—and ironically the two things that supposedly separate science from the supernatural.

If it is not testable and measurable, then according to the definition, it is not science. What then are you left with? Just another flawed religious faith among many.

God, on the other hand, is both testable and measurable.

One of the basic principles of the Bible is cause and effect. Throughout the Bible, God challenges people to test Him and prove Him. God says that if you obey Him, there will be certain results (blessings). You will be happy, healthy, have long life, be free from worry, be financially blessed, etc. Conversely, if you disobey Him, the Bible says there will be different results. You will come under curses. You won’t be truly happy. You will suffer from things like depression and other diseases. You may suffer financial problems.

Billions of people over the last 6,000 years have wittingly or unwittingly put God to the test—and have lived the very real and observable results.

Have you put God to the test? Or do you simply believe what other people say? If you say you believe in science because it is testable and observable—then put God to the test today.

God wants you to test Him. See if He won’t keep the promises He makes in the Bible. You can come to know God and experience the awesome way of life that leads to true happiness and purpose, filled joy.

So where did the multiverse come from?

That's a problem here. They are just pushing back the point of creation further.

God is also NOT testable. Associating any result with any test against God is an assumption, and therefore cannot be considered testable.
The two choices we have are something starting from nothing, or something existing infinitely. These are both paradoxes. The existence of everything is therefore a paradox. -daemonfoe

I look at it this way, most scientists are basically saying a random collection of elements and debris came together and just so happened to magically create us and the entire universe.... now go get a random collection of electronic control boards and just start randomly soldering it together then turn it on... what happens?... the simple fact is there is an order to things in our universe, look up Fibonacci sequence or sacred geometry and you'll see what I'm talking about... only fools think they are wise men, wise men know they are fools...

Thing is though there could be a Billion, Billion Universes.

All could fail to come together just right and fail completely.

Through the law of averages just one will eventually just come together, just right.
Only in that one would everything happen just right for life to exist.

And this is it with us in it. :headscratch:

The problem is that people aren't looking at this question from the right perspective.

Asking how matter formed from nothing is moot when there is a universe (even empty) around it, or multiple universes/dimensions.

Were did the universe come from in the first place? I treat all scientific theories about this the same way I treat the God answer. Where did it come from? What originally defined the laws of physics? Not in this universe, but in the realm in which universes could be formed? What is outside of that? How far out can we go? If it is infinite and has always existed it is a paradox and not a proper answer. If time and space has somehow been bent by an event to have always existed, there was still a point in some dimension which we do not yet understand where everything was defined.
