Just curious with out being a doom merchant to what would be the ideal survival kit in case of a major disaster, my assesment would start with the bare necessesaties i.e....

(1) knowledge, do u at this given time know what is edible in your local park, countryside ect.. there are lots of weeds and vegatation that can be eaten even in winter but do u know what it is? do u know how to preserve food in summer for over the winter months? do u know how to set animal traps? snars ect...
(2) water purifier, for obvious reasons u can purifie any unsterile water, rivers, streams, piss water if u need to.
(3) the means to catch your own food, hunting apparatus, i.e... crossbow, guns, fishing rods ect.. this is obviously if u have run out of dried foods or tined foods and even eaten ur own pets, perish the forght.
(4) fire, some kind of firemakeing device, lighters, flint, fule for lighters, matches and again knowledge of how to make fires if u have no other means.
(5) clothes, especialy winter thermals, water proof coats ect.. bearing in mind if u are on the move or have no access to shelter.
(6) first aid pack, antibiotics , penacilin ect, of course if u have loved ones its best to be prepared in case of injury or infection.
(7) shortwave radio, wind up genarated torches and anything that can be wound up self genarated power.
(8) in the event of oncomeing solar flares it is said that putting any important electricle goods inside an aluminium box will protect the circuits from frying up, electricle goods arnt conciderd a basic survival need its always good to have means of contact and information.

I am sure i have missed lots of survival stuff here so anyone with any imput/sugestions please feel free to enlighten who ever reads this post, who knows it might save the life of your loved ones and yourself.
I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion -
I have shudder'd at it.
I shudder no more.
I could be martyr'd for my religion
Love is my religion
And I could die for that.
I could die for you.

One thing I noticed you had missed, a knife.
It has a1001 uses.
A whet stone as well if you're in a survival situation, the knife will need to be kept sharp.
In Lak'ech

May the force be with you, always.

It may sound silly but without them, you'll go away.
Things also reminds me; Tools or tool kits for any and all repairs and building shelters

Always a good subject to consider, without necessarily dwelling on the gloomy, talk of dwelling, Shelter is a number one priority for obvious reasons, learning to make a shelter out of green branches or a Tarpaulin :flop: Light to carry also.
