Some good news for a change....
Ontario court tosses out key sex trade laws
(AP) – 6 hours ago
TORONTO — An Ontario court has struck down key provisions in Canada's prostitution laws in a case that could set a precedent for the country.
Prostitution itself is not illegal in Canada, but the court struck down three provisions that criminalized most aspects of it. Communicating for the purposes of prostitution, pimping and operating a brothel were decriminalized under the court's ruling.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel ruled Tuesday that the dangers prostitutes face far outweigh any harm which may be faced by the public. Himel said the laws set up to protect prostitutes actually harm them.
Dominatrix Terri-Jean Bedford argued the provisions force sex-trade workers from the safety of their homes to face violence on the streets. Bedford's "Bondage Bungalow" north of Toronto was raided by police in 1994.
Valerie Scott, one of the women who launched the challenge along with Bedford, said sex workers can now pick up the phone and call the police and report a bad client.
The judgment is subject to a 30-day delay as the judge gave the government time to consider how to deal with the potential emergence of unlicensed brothels.
Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson said the government is seriously considering an appeal.
"We will fight to ensure that the criminal law continues to address the significant harms that flow from prostitution to both communities and the prostitutes themselves, along with other vulnerable persons," Nicholson said in a statement.

Canada is a pretty chill place to live if you ask me... pretty much the only thing that makes the news is taxes, and those riots and whatnot in Toronto were one of the biggest things I can remember happening and it wasn't even all that bad. But yeah, pimpin' hoes is now pretty much legal in ontario!

This worries me because it sounds so vague. I'd hate to be put in jail for communicating my politcal beliefs just because some one found it alarming. Canada already has harassment laws so I can't see any good reason for this.

The best part about canada is doing the drive coast to coast. Only gone as far as Toronto from Vancouver and the other way. and been a bunch to Quebec city as for goin east. One day shall go Coast to Coast, Van to Newfoundland.
Prince George is by far the ruggedest, roughest town ive lived in, north of there is Fort st.James, thats the farthest north ive been/stayed.Crazy place! Been to all the capital cities except Maritimes
Doin the long drives makes u really apperciate Canada and its vastness.
My favorite shit is exploring the endless backroads (4x4) anywhere canada . something that USA lacks. I heard they have 4x4 parks like rubicon , moab etc. im sure theres some true wilderness places but nothin like canada
people that dis canada, wishes there were here
