You know who you are.
I myself have been guilty of this, and yes poor use of the queens english can be infuriating.
Before you flame someone for it, consider this.
1. English may not be the poster's first language.
2. Through no fault of their own, they may not have the necessary cognitive skills to be good at english.
3. They may be in a hurry, and just wish to convey a thought/ idea without having to put in every punctuation mark and check the spelling of every word with the red underline.
4. They might be using a portable device, with a small keypad that's difficult to use.
5. It's being done deliberately to bait you, and you bite.

So they don't speak like what you do, so fucking what.
Have you got nothing better, more constructive things to do with your time.
Do you know what style over content gets you ?
Piss poor products, piss poor politicians, piss poor entertainment, etc etc etc.

well said I dont understand this fascination with criticizing people for small mistakes or bad grammar.
What is important is the context of what is being said not a spelling mistake

I don't like to be publicly pointing out other members, unless its under the 'fair fight' standard, but I believe these two ("hackjames" and "gonzo") deserve to be pinpointed here, especially this "gonzo" individual, as his behaviour is completely obsessive !

i found this website because i was looking for information on picking etc. but after reading through an entire page of people's problems, i began to realise that there really is something wrong with me...

ever since i can remember, i have always strived for perfection when it came to the english language - possibly because i had an english teacher as a mother, i'm not sure...

when i was young, she would always correct me, and make sure that i pronounced words properly... now i am almost 22, and every single time i hear somebody saying something incorrectly i just want to die! it really bothers me that i feel so strongly about something so stupid... i mean, it doesn't really matter how somebody says something, does it? as long as you know what they're trying to say...

one of my biggest problems is that i have a greek girlfriend. she grew up in zambia, and because of this, she has a "weird" accent (according to me), and obviously, she doesn't speak english as well as i do...

i feel like i'm such a horrible person, and i don't know what to do... possibly the reason why i sometimes pick scabs/squeeze invisible spots... i am destroying my body (i have horrible scars on my bum, and marks and bumps all down my arms...) what is wrong with me!!??

i used to be a terrible terrible nail biter... but since i stopped biting my nails, i find that i pick scabs more... and i read that if you cut your nails down short that you won't be able to scratch yourself, but that just irritates me and makes me want to bite my nails...

i stopped smoking last april... but still i buy the odd packet of cigarettes and have a cigarette once a night, every so often... it comes and goes... i also have this obsession with buying sweets and chocolates...

my girlfriend once told me that my feet were rough, so i spend an hour soaking them and then scrubbing them and buffing them, until my feet were so smooth... then for weeks afterwards whenever i got out of my bed in the morning my feet would ache and sting because i had worn the skin down so much...

i am also really messy - i am a hoarder... i keep anything and everything.

i think i have listed just about everything... please can somebody give me some advice? i am really sick of feeling this way...

i am not on medication, and do not want to be put on any either...

That's what prompted me to start this thread.
I am fortunate in that I have been blessed with the ability to utilise that part of my brain (left hemisphere) concerned with spelling, grammar, punctuation etc.
It's a gift from the universe, and what do I do with this gift.
Do I use it to deride and belittle others, of course not.
What would be the sense in that, what would I learn from it.
Now the universe being the universe, has balanced out my gift of left brain dominance, by giving me an under developed right brain.
Many things people take for granted I struggle with, I'm not bitter or envious.
I do after all have a gifted side, as I believe everyone has.
I accept it, try to improve it and use the gifts I do have to my advantage.
If everybody had the same abilities the world would be a dull, limited and pointless experience.
I think it's far better for someone to speak even if they are incorrect.
Than remain silent and never find out that they had something worth saying.
