Interpol Shoot-out With German UFO-Conspiracy Theory Sect Leader
October 19, 2012 - A German man said to be the leader of a UFO-conspiracy theory sect was arrested after a gun battle on a Caribbean island in which another German man was killed, a German woman arrested and at least three police officers wounded.
Peter Brunck is said to be the leader of the Academy for Future Health, which until May, had run a website talking about the coming perfection of the world and conspiracy theories about world governments hiding decades of contact with aliens.
The website talks of cultures from space having previously lived on Earth and having left DNA traces in todays people. It ties current developments such as the catastrophe in Japan earlier this year, to something it calls the Transfer.
Der Spiegel magazine reported on Thursday that police, justice officials and members of Interpol had raided a villa near the tourist town Sosúa on the Dominican Republic trying to execute a search warrant to look for illegal weapons.
A gunfight ensued, with members of the sect in the villa wearing bullet-proof vests and shooting at police with large-calibre weapons.
The Dominica Today newspaper reported that the gunfight went on for around an hour, with one man ending up dead in a pool of blood despite his bullet-proof vest - and large weapon lying nearby.
One of the two people arrested was identified as Peter Brunck, from Rhineland-Palatinate, the Jamaica Observer newspaper said. He is named as one of the most innovative thinking personalities of the time on the sects website, and is considered the main person of the group.
A woman was arrested, also said to have been wearing a bullet-proof vest.
When officers finally got in the building, they found a number of guns, which local media suggest were being fired at a private shooting range in the grounds of the villa.
