Mayor baffled by buried 'alien head'
A second section - believed to contain what looks like a heart - was also recovered.
"It scared the life out of me to see that thing staring up out of the ground," said one worker.
"The really strange thing, though, was the smell. Most things that come out of the ground don't smell too good.
"But this smelled very sweet, like aftershave or perfume," they added.
Mayor Ivan Stefic, seen here holding the head, explained: "It was found about one metre under the surface and gave the workers quite a shock."
"We have got it safe here at the Town Hall until the scientists take it from us.
"I know it sounds crazy, but we can't think of any more rational explanation for what we've found," he added.
Sources and more information:
The mayor of a town in Croatia is asking scientists to examine what he's pretty sure is an alien head, dug up recently by graveyard workers. The alien head was turned up by excavators who were digging to extend the cemetery. But even though it was found in a cemetery, they're pretty sure the remains are not human.

So Spikey, can you please explain why a huge wale was in the middle of the Croatian countryside?

It looks like it might be Ambergris...or AKA whale vomit.
The 'beak like mouth' is probably the remains of the whales' dinner, an octopus or squid, as they have beaks.
This stuff is used by the perfume industry, which might explain it's smell, as that's what ambergris is used for.
A lump that size is worth about $150,000 or so.
Of course, an alien head is going to be worth a lot more than that.
