U.S. Supplies of potassium iodide gone - Gov takes control

August 1, 2011 - A amount of shops across the west coast are reporting that they are entirely sold out. And a pharmacist at a Walgreen’s in California informed us that they would not be acquiring anymore simply because the federal government has seized all supplies.

Fleming Pharmaceuticals, maker of ThyroShield a potassium iodide utilized in nuclear emergencies, explained in a press release today that ahead of the Japanese Quake the federal government presently has stockpiled millions of doses. The business claims that some of the federal stockpile has expired and the remaining supply is set to expire over the year.


White House chief spokesman Jay Carney continued to inform the press that the U.S. is not in hazard, but wouldn’t remark on the governments stockpiling program.
