US deploys 'game-changer' weapon to Afghanistan
It seems and functions like a thing greatest left in the fingers of Sylvester Stallone's "Rambo", but this most recent dream weapon is real - and the US Army sees it becoming the Taliban's worst nightmare.
The Pentagon has rolled out prototypes of its first-ever programmable "sensible" grenade launcher, a shoulder-fired weapon that makes use of microchipped ammunition to focus on and eliminate the enemy, even when the enemy is hidden behind walls or other address.
Following years of development, the XM25 Counter Defilade Goal Engagement System, about the measurement of a regular rifle, has now been deployed to US units on the battlefields of Afghanistan, exactly where the Army expects it to be a "recreation-changer" in its counterinsurgency functions.

"For properly over a week, it is been actively on patrols, and in numerous overcome outposts in places that are hot," mentioned Lieutenant Colonel Chris Lehner, program supervisor for the XM25.
The gun's stats are formidable: it fires 25mm air-bursting shells up to (700 metres), well previous the array of most rifles used by today's troopers, and programs them to explode at a precise length, permitting troops to neutralise insurgents hiding behind partitions, rocks or trenches or inside of buildings.
"This is the first time we're putting sensible technological innovation into the hands of the specific soldier," Lehner explained in a telephone interview.
"It truly is providing them the edge," he said, in the harsh Afghan landscape the place Islamist extremists have vexed US troops making use of hundreds of years-previous methods of popping up from behind address to engage.

I read a thing on a pig farming site called 100 uses for a pig, recently.....bacon? ok....lard? ok....crackling? Ok......wait, WHAT???......apparently bullets are dipped in pig fat these days to reduce corrosion....who even KNEW that.
Anyway....Where I grew up?...the neighbourhood was too rough to use guns.
When someone wanted to cap your azz, they just grabbed you and inserted the bullets manually.

Bloody marvelous, now TPTB have got a new toy for their soldiers to murder with. Aren't drones bad enough? It would be disastrous if it got into the wrong hands (actually all weapons are in the wrong hands). Hi-tech killing.
