The Cyalume ChemLight is an orange military grade chemical light stick measuring six" extended, for providing instantaneous ultra-high intensity 360 diploma illumination, that can be witnessed up to a mile away for up to 5 minutes in optimal situations. The ChemLight is waterproof, non-toxic, and non-flammable. To activate the light stick, bend, snap and shake the tube. The light stick has a hook and gate prime, for hanging or attaching the light. The ChemLight meets Defense Logistics Company (DLA) and NATO Maintenance and Supply Company (NAMSA) specifications, and Countrywide/NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) are printed on each merchandise. Each light stick is individually foil-wrapped for defense from light and moisture, and has up to a two-12 months shelf daily life from date of manufacture.
The tough, waterproof, exterior entire body of the light stick is produced from reduced density polyethylene (LDPE), and is phthalate free of charge for basic safety. The inner illuminating chemical compound is non-toxic and non-flammable, and the elements of the light stick are recyclable. The light stick floats in water and performs finest among 40 to 80 degrees F (four to 27 degrees Do), and despite the fact that the light stick performs at increased or reduced temperatures, it is less successful in colder temperatures.
All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F (22 degrees Do) to decide the illumination duration. Each ten-diploma Do (fifty-diploma F) boost or lessen in temperature ambigu or halves the response fee, and therefore the brightness and duration. For case in point, the same light stick that emits roughly thirty lux (a unit that describes how much light is noticeable above a sq. meter) at fifteen minutes right after activation at 24 degrees Do (75 degrees F) will be half as vibrant but glow twice as extended at 14 degrees Do (fifty seven degrees F). At 34 degrees Do (93 degrees F), the same light stick would be twice as vibrant, but glow half as extended. Storage at elevated temperatures (above one hundred twenty degrees F or 49 degrees Do) will lessen shelf daily life and start off to soften the plastic tube, and boost the risk of a leak. Coverage to cold temperatures will not affect the light sticks if they are warmed above 40 degrees F (four.5 degrees Do) just before activation, unless they are frozen (which takes place at -fifteen to -20 degrees F, or -26 to -29 degrees Do). The moment light sticks have been frozen, they will nonetheless generate some light, but overall performance will not be as reliable. Humidity and atmospheric situations do not affect the light sticks.
Gentle sticks are chemiluminescent substances in plastic tubes that offer hours of illumination in a quantity of basic safety, industrial, and military apps. Gentle sticks are waterproof, non-flammable, and non-sparking, which helps make them valuable in hazardous scenarios in which sparks or flame could cause an explosion. Duration is determined by the chemistry of the formulation. Brightness is afflicted by temperature: the warmer the temperature, the brighter the light will show up. All sticks are tested at a temperature of 72 degrees F to decide the illumination duration. Viewing length can be afflicted by temperature, moisture, and other aspects. Coverage to direct sunlight can minimize shelf daily life and usefulness.
Cyalume Technologies manufactures chemiluminescent goods used for basic safety, industrial, and military apps. The organization, started in 1970 and headquartered in West Springfield, MA, helps make goods below ChemLight and SnapLight makes.
