This is an interior space background radiation measurement from inside our room -- (north side facing) -- This represents the average amount of free floating detectable radioactive particles present in the room. The amounts of radiation inside are about HALF of the amount outside. Returning levels of approximately 27.6CPM as the highest reading. Alert level is 100CPM --- therefore this interior space (representative of most of the high rise buildings in Chicago) -- is returning levels @ 1/4 the alert level. Compared to outside -- compared to Fukushima levels -- this is good news. However, this is the baseline being set -- so we shall have to see what future readings return. IF levels go down -- that is to say for instance, if the same measurements were to be taken in a year from now -- levels could be much lower, or higher, depending on the long term spread of radiation. On a whim, we decided to check out this famous landmark museum ---- it turned out to be an awesome visit! They have a whole severe weather exhibit -- tornadoes, tsunamis --- old weather gear -- plasma, spectrum displays --- and RADIATION exhibits ... (not to mention the tesla coil and edisons devices)... The top of the museum visit was the FULL submarine in the basement of the building.. a German U-boat -- in almost mint condition.. the real deal.. 4 stories underground... an amazing site to see!... which I did not get video of (due to battery drain).. got several digital pictures which I will upload to the website sincedutch.wordpress.com at some point today.

A subway train has crashed into a block of flats in the Chilean capital Santiago. No one was killed or injured. The spectacular moment of collision was caught by CCTV cameras. While being tested after repair on Wednesday morning in Lo Ovalle, an area in Santiago, the train derailed at high speed and slammed into a private condominium nearby, along with four parked vehicles. The driver received minor bruises and was said to be in a state of shock. The subway system authorities expressed their regrets over the incident.
