link to their website: www.msichicago.org While taking radiation readings near Lake Shore Blvd. in downtown Chicago --- we headed south in search of one final place to take a reading --- in the process of getting lost while looking for a clear open spot --- to a twist of good fate...we ended up at the entrance to the Chicago Science & Industry museum!! On a whim, we decided to check out this famous landmark museum ---- it turned out to be an awesome visit! They have a whole severe weather exhibit -- tornadoes, tsunamis --- old weather gear -- plasma, spectrum displays --- and RADIATION exhibits ... (not to mention the tesla coil and edisons devices)... The top of the museum visit was the FULL submarine in the basement of the building.. a German U-boat -- in almost mint condition.. the real deal.. 4 stories underground... an amazing site to see!... which I did not get video of (due to battery drain).. got several digital pictures which I will upload to the website sincedutch.wordpress.com at some point today.

READ BELOW: Today, we drove into the mouth of the beast -- Location : 1/4 mile south of the Byron Illinois Nuclear power plant. We passed within a few hundred feet of the structures. Got some GREAT shots of the steam venting near the reactor buildings. This nuclear plant 'vented' clouds of steam laced with tritium this past week -- the clouds were blown by prevailing winds over downtown Chicago, IL. Thus the reason for this measurement taking trip. Todays levels near the plant directly are below the alert level of 100CPM -- but a full 20CPM above downtown Chicago (those tests will be uploaded later tonight). Todays measurements averaged between 45cpm and 48cpm. Several more to still be processed and uploaded.. most averaging in the 50CPM range.. Many thanks to international medcom for the 2nd Inspector Alert geiger counter. China joins the ranks of the nations who have successfully deployed deep space projects, with their publication of the first lunar picture. The black and white image showed a rough moon surface with scattered round craters both big and small. The area covered by the picture, about 460 kilometers in length and 280 km in width, is located within a 54 to 70 degrees south latitude and 57 to 83 degrees east longitude. China will provide the data collected to as many scientists as possible. Premier Wen Jiabao (R) unveiled the first picture of the moon, sent back from the lunar probe Chang'e I, in Beijing November 26, 2007. The premier said that the lunar probe was the third milestone in China's space exploration, following the success of man-made satellites and manned space flights. The success, he said, not only manifested China's rising national strength and technical innovation capability, but also elevated the country's international status and cemented national cohesion.
